We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Operative to join our laboratory team. This role is ideal for an individual with previous laboratory testing experience, preferably within the cement, construction materials, concrete, mortar, or related manufacturing industries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out quality control testing on raw materials, work-in-progress products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with company specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform physical and chemical testing in accordance with established procedures and relevant standards.
  • Record, analyse, and report test results accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor product quality and identify any non-conforming materials or processes.
  • Support production teams by providing timely quality feedback and recommendations.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and verify laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with product investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement activities.
  • Retain and manage test samples in accordance with company procedures.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working in a quality control or laboratory environment.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and testing procedures.
Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience within the cement, dry mortar, concrete, construction materials, or related manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of British and European testing standards.
  • Experience with raw material testing and product development support.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Working Hours: The role operates on a Monday to Friday shift pattern, based on an 8-hour working day as standard. Shift times may vary depending on business requirements and production demands. Overtime opportunities are regularly available and may be required to support operational needs.

About the Role: This position plays a vital role in ensuring that products consistently meet the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Technical, and Operations teams to support product quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
