Site Manager Civil Engineering & Highways Employment Type: Permanent or Freelance
Rate/Salary: £300 - £330 per day (freelance) The Opportunity A medium-sized civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of highways, public realm and civil engineering projects across Greater Manchester. This opportunity provides long-term work on a range of local authority and framework projects throughout Manchester, Lancashire and Stockport. The company is particularly interested in candidates who have built their careers with small to medium-sized civil engineering contractors. The successful candidate will be a hands-on Site Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of site operations, working closely with directly employed operatives and playing an active role in project delivery. Must have experience delivering live highways, public realm and infrastructure projects is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of traffic management, stakeholder engagement, permit coordination and working within constrained live environments.
Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience managing highways and civil engineering projects.
A background working for small to medium-sized civil engineering contractors.
Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.
Strong knowledge of roads, drainage, highways and S278 works.
Experience working on live highways and public-facing infrastructure schemes.
Traffic management and permit coordination experience.
Excellent stakeholder and resident liaison skills.
The ability to work independently and drive programme delivery.
SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
Package £300 - £330 per day for freelance candidates.
Long-term secured workload across Greater Manchester / Lancashire.
Immediate or short-notice start available.
