Role Its an exciting time to be joining their Platform team as theyve completed their migration from their data centre to Google Cloud Platform and are now embracing cloud-native infrastructure, leveraging GCPs services to build a more scalable, resilient, and efficient platform.
Theyre looking for a passionate Platform Engineer to help them optimise their system, improve security, and develop solutions that utilise many of the benefits cloud engineering offers.
Responsibilities ?Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of their platform and infrastructure.
Design and maintain scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and platform tooling on GCP.
Continue to automate and improve their infrastructure and operational workflows.
Collaborate with their core development team to design and deliver platform solutions that support product development.
Build and maintain self-service platform capabilities that enable teams to deploy and operate their services.
Help maintain high engineering standards through best practices, tooling, and documentation. *Participate in a paid on-call rotation to support the reliability and availability of their platform (the rota is 1 week on 1 week off.
It's possible to swap days or just ask another other person to cover it.
The call outs are random.
Can be as little as 0 a month to a few a month).
Relevant experience in a majority of these concepts Containerisation (Docker & Kubernetes).
In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, focusing on Debian and RHEL/Cent OS.
Cloud service providers such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS (knowledge of other platforms such as Azure would also be beneficial).
Infrastructure as Code best practises (Terraform).
Configuration Management (e. g.
Ansible, Puppet, Packer).
Knowledge of CI/CD processes (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions and Flux CD in particular).
Scripting/programming languages e. g.
Python, Bash, Perl or Golang).
Databases (primarily My SQL).
Some experience of CDNs would also be beneficial (particularly Fastly).
Physical infrastructure exposure, e. g. physical & wireless networking, security Email infrastructure and SMTP services (e. g.
Postfix), including mail delivery, routing, and troubleshooting.
