The role:
We're recruiting an Aircraft Painter to join our Maintenance operation at Stansted Airport. You'll prepare, paint and finish aircraft surfaces to aviation standards and company procedures, delivering consistent, high-quality finishes while maintaining strict health, safety and environmental compliance.
What we're looking for (essential):
- Proven experience in aircraft painting or industrial painting (aviation preferred)
- Strong understanding of surface preparation, coatings, and finishing processes
- Confident using spray guns and specialist surface prep tools
- Excellent attention to detail with a quality-first mindset
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, schematics and manufacturer guidance
- Strong H&S awareness, including hazardous materials handling
- Team player with clear communication skills
- Physical capability to work at height and in confined spaces
Desirable:
- Relevant certifications/vocational training in painting/coatings or aviation maintenance
Key responsibilities:
- Clean, sand, mask, prime and otherwise prepare aircraft surfaces for paint
- Mix paints/coatings to specification
- Apply paint/coatings using spray guns and specialist equipment
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and compliance; complete touch-ups/rework as needed
- Remove old paint and treat corrosion safely and effectively
- Re-seal panels removed during maintenance
- Polish painted surfaces, bright-work and interior parts where required
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
- Keep work areas clean, organised and compliant with environmental, health & safety standards
- Support production schedules and collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams
- Undertake other duties within your capabilities as directed
Working conditions:
Base maintenance environment at Stansted Airport. Use of PPE is required; manual work may involve confined spaces and working at height.
