Are you an experienced Class 1 Welder, Fabricator or Plater looking to work on technically interesting, high-quality fabrication projects rather than repetitive production work? We are recruiting for a skilled Class 1 Welder / Fabricator / Plater to join a highly respected global engineering manufacturer based in Stamford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on specialist engineered products used across the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation and process industries, including flare systems, burners, skids and pressure vessel fabrications.
You will be working with carbon steel, stainless steel and high-nickel alloys, producing high-quality fabricated components from detailed engineering drawings.
The Role
- Reading and interpreting engineering, fabrication and isometric drawings
- Fabricating and plating components accurately from technical drawings
- Preparing materials for welding through cutting, sawing, drilling, grinding, pipe bending and threading
- Working confidently with both metric and imperial measurements
- Carrying out Class 1 fabrication and welding activities
- Reading and working to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Producing fillet, lap, corner and butt welds to required quality standards
- Working to recognised welding standards including ASME IX and ISO 15614
- Planning fabrication sequences to maintain efficient workflow
- Maintaining excellent standards of workmanship, quality and safety
What We're Looking For
You will ideally be an experienced Welder / Fabricator / Plater from a heavy engineering environment such as: Oil & Gas, Pressure Vessels, Pipework, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Process Engineering, Heavy Fabrication.
- Class 1 welding, fabrication or plating experience
- Strong TIG welding capability
- Ability to pass a Class 1 TIG fillet weld test
- Strong experience reading engineering and fabrication drawings
- Experience working with carbon steel and stainless steel
- Experience with high-nickel alloys would be highly beneficial
- Good knowledge of fabrication and weld preparation techniques
- Understanding of WPS documentation and welding procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a skilled fabrication team
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to commute to Stamford
- Previous experience within an ISO 3834 fabrication environment, pressure vessel manufacturing or burner fabrication would be advantageous but is not essential.
