Our Spalding site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our friendly team on a full-time permanent basis. As the Transport Team Leader you will be responsible for the daily planning of Company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are given clear precise instruction, and are fully utilised.
Shift: 4 on 4 off nights, 7pm-7am.
Salary: £35,000- £39,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Key Duties of a Transport Team Leader:
- Oversee the effective application of the Company absence policy and procedures including monitoring of absence levels and conducting return to work discussions.
- Identify the training and development needs for team members and coach/organise/oversee solutions using own knowledge and company training tools.
- Agree working patterns with regard to resource requirements and effective utilisation of the needs of all sites considered and confirm at least two weeks in advance.
- Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.
- Ensure that people under your control work within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations when driving & Company Health & Safety Policy & Procedures.
- Liaise with retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and resolve problems affecting delivery on time.
- Assist in the control of equipment ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
- Liaise with customers regarding present or future developments.
- Support and if necessary, provide cover for the Transport Operation Manager in meetings or customer visits.
- To ensure all vehicle and trailer services are completed on time.
Qualifications:
- 1 year minimum FMCG distribution experience.
- Experience of communicating with drivers.
- Demonstrate cost control methodology within a traffic office environment.
- Knowledge of temperature controlled transportation is advantageous.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations to allow efficient integration of both functions is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of the general logistics sector.
- Able to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment.
