An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a high profile, heavy civil engineering project in West London. The Quantity Surveyor will be tasked with overseeing a number of packages across the project which include twin-bored TBM tunnels, sprayed concrete lining, shaft sinking, bridge reconstruction, earthworks, and major services diversions. It's large-scale, long-term, and genuinely interesting work.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for pre and post-contract commercial duties. You'll work as part of an integrated project team, either independently or under the direction of a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with real responsibility from day one. The focus is on delivering accurate, value-generating commercial input across the full lifecycle of your allocated works.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Contract management and administration, ensuring all notices and correspondence are accurate, timely, and compliant
  • Preparation and assessment of applications for payment, valuations, and cost/value reconciliation
  • Cost control and forecasting, including monthly reporting on value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow, and budget
  • Identifying, analysing, and responding to commercial risks - feeding into risk and value management at project level
  • Preparing supply chain enquiries, negotiating, administering, and closing out subcontracts
  • Providing contractual advice to the project and site team as required
  • Ongoing liaison with site teams, subcontractors, and the client's commercial representatives
  • Maintaining commercial records, meeting packs, and minutes in line with contract and company requirements

What We're Looking For:

  • NEC contract experience
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and at least four or more years of UK civil engineering experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Right to work in the UK

Beyond the scale of the project itself, my client is genuinely invested in the development of their people - whether that's APC support, further study, or progression into more senior commercial roles as the programme grows. You'll join a team that values collaboration, takes its culture seriously, and offers the kind of project exposure that's hard to find elsewhere. You'll also be offered a competitive salary and package that includes:

  • Starting salary of £45,000 to £58,000
  • Travel allowance of £5,000
  • Paid travel to site
  • 25 days leave + bank holidays
  • Private healthcare
  • Contributory pension
