My client, a leading contractor, is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer / Technical Engineer to provide technical leadership, engineering assurance and practical support across a range of complex construction and infrastructure projects. This is a key technical position, supporting projects from tendering and preconstruction through to live delivery, governance and quality assurance. The successful candidate will also play an important role in developing engineering capability, improving standards and promoting best practice across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering input across major projects, tender submissions, preconstruction planning and live project delivery.
  • Support the Designated Individual with the auditing, management and continual improvement of temporary works governance.
  • Undertake technical assessments and peer reviews to maintain high engineering standards and support successful project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering standards, including temporary and permanent works.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to training, knowledge sharing and the ongoing development of the engineering team.
  • Support technical training by sharing practical engineering experience, best practice and effective solution options.
  • Lead and support engineering-related quality assurance and quality control activities, including QITP, QA/QC procedures and improvements to project management systems.
  • Work closely with Design Leads and support the integration of London Underground, Network Rail and other client or stakeholder requirements where applicable.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop standard engineering solutions, strengthen communication and share best practice.
  • Provide technical support to senior leadership on complex engineering challenges and solutions when required.
  • Review designs, resolve technical issues and ensure solutions are practical, compliant and buildable.
  • Ensure engineering activities meet the required standards for safety, quality, compliance and performance.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver effective engineering solutions.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, strengthening technical capability and encouraging a culture of engineering excellence.
