Customers see beautiful furniture. You'll see thousands of possible combinations, changing sales patterns and manufacturing constraints. Making sense of all that complexity is what makes this role so interesting.
The Company: A made-to-order furniture business where one sofa can be available in hundreds of fabrics, multiple sizes and configurations. Multiply that across the category and you're dealing with more than 10,000 possible combinations. Behind all that choice is a Planning team making sure customer orders can be produced by their network of UK manufacturers. You'll join a small team of four, working alongside a Demand Planner specifically on the made-to-order side of the business. It's also an interesting time to join as the business is investing in its data capabilities, with a new data warehouse and growing use of Power BI. Based in West London, you'll work on a hybrid basis - 3 days office and 2 home.
The Role: Working alongside the Demand Planner, you'll use customer orders and product data to help plan material requirements and capacity across their network of UK manufacturers. Responsibilities include:
- Analyse customer orders, sales and product data to identify patterns, peaks and changes in demand.
- Work with the Demand Planner to plan fabric requirements and manufacturing capacity, identifying potential peaks, bottlenecks and risks.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc analysis, turning large amounts of product and order data into useful insight for the Planning and wider Product teams.
- Support planning for new product launches, range changes and new fabrics.
- Monitor performance and flag risks, unusual trends or potential issues for the Demand Planner to investigate or act on.
- Help the Demand Planning Assistant to ensure accurate planning and range information.
- Use Excel to manipulate and analyse large datasets, with growing exposure to Power BI as the team's reporting capabilities develop.
About You: You'll have some experience in demand planning or merchandising. You could be an Assistant Demand Planner, Demand Planning Assistant, Junior Demand Planner, Assistant Merchandiser or similar. Experience with made-to-order furniture, upholstery or fabrics would be ideal but that's not the only background that could work. You might have looked after a large, complex product area with lots of SKUs where customers can choose from multiple sizes, finishes or configurations or have worked in a manufacturing with bespoke products. Either way, you'll be analytical, comfortable working with large amounts of data and confident using Excel. Most importantly, you'll be curious about what the numbers are telling you and able to spot when something doesn't look quite right. You'll need to be able to travel into the West London office 3 days a week.
The Reward: You'll join a highly regarded brand with a strong range of beautifully designed products. Working closely with an experienced Demand Planner, you'll develop your skills across data analysis and capacity planning. Alongside a salary based on your experience, there's hybrid working (3 days office, 2 from home), flexible start and finish times around core hours, a generous holiday allowance that increases with service, dental/optical/physio cover, a very generous staff discount and other benefits.
