Salary: £90-£95 per day

Contract: Full-time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience before pursuing a career in education, educational psychology, or mental health? Academics is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Slough that is looking to appoint a Psychology Graduate Intervention Assistant from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to put your academic knowledge into practice by supporting children who require additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support.

Working alongside experienced teachers and SEN professionals, you'll play an important role in helping pupils develop the confidence, resilience, and skills they need to thrive in school. As a Psychology Graduate Intervention Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils through both 1:1 and small group interventions. You'll help remove barriers to learning, encourage positive engagement in the classroom, and contribute to an inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored interventions to support pupils with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to improve academic progress and wellbeing
  • Assist teachers in adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to personalised support plans alongside the class teacher and SENCO
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to ensure consistent support

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds a degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
  • Has a genuine interest in child development, mental health, and Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and confident building positive relationships with children
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is considering a future career in educational psychology, teaching, therapy, counselling, or wider mental health services
