Are you a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a permanent role with a condensed working pattern? We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a busy engineering team in Anwick, Lincolnshire, working Saturday, Sunday and Monday only, 4pm to 4am. This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting production machinery, planned maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement across a large-scale food manufacturing site.
This opportunity would suit a practical, reliable and proactive engineer with strong mechanical fault-finding skills and experience working in manufacturing, production, FMCG, food processing or a similar industrial environment.
The Role
- Providing an effective engineering service to production, ensuring machinery and equipment are maintained, repaired and running efficiently.
- Responding quickly and safely to plant stoppages and equipment breakdowns.
- Carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs and adjustments on production machinery.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and delegated engineering tasks.
- Fault finding on machinery, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Supporting improvements to equipment performance, reliability and uptime.
- Ensuring machinery operates efficiently and meets product specification requirements.
- Recording engineering activity, labour and parts accurately using SAP / PPM systems.
- Working with engineering leaders, production teams and external engineers.
- Supporting Health & Safety standards, including COSHH and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Completing engineering documentation, maintenance records and PPM paperwork.
- Supporting continuous improvement, energy reduction and environmental initiatives.
The Candidate
We are looking for a mechanically qualified engineer with strong hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
You will need:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical qualification.
- Recognised UK engineering qualifications.
- Previous experience in manufacturing operations.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working on breakdowns, maintenance and machinery improvements.
- Good decision-making skills and the ability to work safely under pressure.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to complete accurate engineering records and maintenance documentation.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Food manufacturing, food processing or poultry machinery.
- FMCG, production, packaging or automated manufacturing environments.
- Welding, ideally TIG.
- Lean manufacturing techniques.
- Automated machinery.
- SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
- 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification.
