About the role: As a Grounds Person, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest quality racing surface all year round, while ensuring the wider stadium environment is safe, functional, and presented to the highest standard. You will be responsible for both grounds maintenance, supporting the upkeep of external areas, buildings, and racing equipment. You will also contribute to the smooth running of race meetings and events. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that can be physically demanding and involves working in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Track Manager, assist in delivering maintenance programmes for the track and surrounding grounds.
  • Ensure the track surface is prepared to the required standard ahead of trials and race meetings, and maintained throughout, using tractors, attachments, and relevant machinery.
  • Maintain all grass and non-running surfaces, with a strong focus on raceday and event presentation.
  • Carry out general grounds maintenance, including car parks, tarmac areas, and all customer-facing external spaces.
  • Ensure all external areas are kept clean and free from weeds, litter, and debris.
  • Conduct routine checks, testing, and basic maintenance of racing and track equipment to ensure functionality and presentation standards are met.
  • Carry out routine inspections to identify faults, hazards, or maintenance needs, reporting any major issues to management.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of race meetings and events to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Work closely with the kennels team, racing team, and officials to support racing operations.
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies and safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant rules of racing and report any concerns to your line manager.
  • Promote and uphold the highest standards of greyhound welfare at all times.
  • Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays, in line with business needs.
