We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Revenues & Benefits Manager to provide senior leadership and operational support within a busy Revenues and Benefits service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager with a strong background in Revenues, Benefits or Local Taxation to support service delivery, lead operational teams and help drive performance across a key local authority function.

Approximately 1 day per week onsite (some flexibility for the right candidate)
Contract Details
37 hours per week Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm
Initial contract from 10 August 2026 to 31 January 2027
Pay
£33.77 per hour PAYE, plus holiday pay
The Role
Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide operational leadership across the Revenues and Benefits service, ensuring high standards of service delivery, governance and performance. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the management of Revenues and Benefits teams
- Leading the collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and the administration of Housing Benefits
- Managing debt recovery, billing and income collection activities
- Overseeing service performance, quality assurance and statutory compliance
- Supporting the implementation of government initiatives, funding schemes and legislative changes
- Developing service improvements and driving operational efficiencies
- Managing, coaching and developing team managers and staff
- Producing management information and performance reports
- Working collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders to deliver an effective customer-focused service.
About You
To be successful you will have:
- Significant management experience within Revenues and Benefits, Council Tax or Business Rates
- A strong understanding of local authority revenues, benefits and recovery processes
- Experience leading operational teams and managing performance
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills
- The ability to manage change, improve services and support senior management.
