TSR Legal are delighted to be recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join a highly regarded Legal 500 law firm with a strong presence across the South West. With an established reputation for providing high-quality legal services and a strong commitment to its clients and people, this is an excellent opportunity for a Legal Cashier to join a professional and supportive finance team. The role is ideally based from the firm's Sherborne office, although there may be some flexibility around location for the right candidate.
The Role
- Working as part of the wider finance and accounts function, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the firm, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules.
- You will work closely with Fee Earners, Partners and colleagues across the firm's offices, providing a professional and responsive cashiering service.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing client and office account transactions
- Posting and allocating client and office account receipts and payments
- Processing electronic payments, transfers and other banking transactions
- Carrying out daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Processing client-to-office and office-to-client transfers
- Assisting with completion statements and financial transactions relating to property matters
- Processing bills, credit notes and associated financial entries
- Dealing with purchase ledger and supplier payments
- Supporting the processing of expenses and other office payments
- Monitoring client account balances and ensuring transactions are correctly allocated
- Responding to queries from Fee Earners, Partners, clients and third parties
- Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
- Maintaining accurate financial records and audit trails
- Ensuring all transactions are completed in accordance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and internal procedures
- Supporting the wider Finance team and providing cover where required
About You
- The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within legal cashiering, legal accounts or a law firm finance environment.
- A good understanding of the Solicitors' Accounts Rules would be highly advantageous, although the firm may consider candidates with strong general accounts experience who are keen to develop within legal finance.
- You will be:
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Numerate and confident working with financial information
- Comfortable working to deadlines and managing competing priorities
- Professional and approachable in your communication
- Confident liaising with Fee Earners and colleagues across different departments
- Able to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident learning financial and legal systems
- Committed to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and compliance
