The Sports Turf Academy (STA) is looking for a hands-on, motivated Technical Services Operative to join our growing Technical Services (STATS) team. This is an opportunity to work on a variety of sports surfaces, from grassroots facilities to professional environments, delivering essential turf improvement and renovation works that directly influence playing quality across the region.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Technical Services Operative, you'll play a key role in delivering our specialist sports turf maintenance and renovation services, ensuring every project is completed safely, professionally, and to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering sports turf improvement works across multiple locations
- Undertaking operations such as:
- Aeration
- Overseeding
- Scarification
- Top dressing
- Fertilisation
- Turfing and renovation projects
- Operating and maintaining a range of specialist sports turf machinery, including:
- Tractors and ride-on equipment
- Pedestrian machinery
- Aerators, seeders, sprayers and specialist attachments
- Transporting, mobilising and setting up equipment safely at client sites
- Supporting site assessments, reporting, resource planning and risk assessments
- Maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to the Technical Services Manager
- Building positive relationships with grassroots clubs, external organisations and key stakeholders
- Supporting the delivery of contracts while contributing to excellent customer satisfaction and repeat business
- Championing health and safety, ensuring compliance with all legislation, policies and safe working practices
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines practical sports turf expertise with a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to quality.
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 qualification in Sports Turf Management (or related discipline)
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 certifications (or equivalent)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience working within sports turf, grounds maintenance or golf course maintenance
- Experience operating and maintaining sports turf machinery
- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Additional land-based or machinery-related qualifications
- Experience in contract services or customer-facing environments
- Experience supporting apprentices or less experienced colleagues

Working Environment
This is a predominantly outdoor, physically active role involving regular travel to community and partner sites. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends when required to meet operational demands.
