Sheffield Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)

We are looking for an experienced Governance Manager to join a major technology and transformation environment within a leading global financial services organisation. This is a hands-on role providing governance, reporting, financial control and delivery assurance across a portfolio of technology projects and programmes.

Working closely with Portfolio Leads, Programme Managers, Project Managers, Finance, Risk and senior stakeholders, you will ensure portfolio information is accurate, risks and issues are appropriately challenged and senior leaders have clear insight into delivery and financial performance.

This would suit an experienced Governance Manager, Portfolio PMO Lead, Programme Governance Manager or Senior PMO professional who combines strong portfolio governance experience with excellent analytical and reporting skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Portfolio, programme and project governance and delivery assurance
  • Producing executive reporting packs, dashboards and portfolio MI
  • Tracking delivery against plans and key milestones
  • Managing portfolio-level RAID, dependencies and escalations
  • Financial governance including budgets, forecasts, actuals and variance analysis
  • Reviewing portfolio data and identifying anomalies or areas requiring challenge
  • Challenging Project and Programme Managers where delivery information requires further scrutiny
  • Providing clear portfolio health assessments and insights to senior stakeholders
  • Supporting governance forums, steering meetings and executive reviews
  • Improving reporting quality, data consistency and governance processes
  • Supporting benefits tracking and value realisation
  • Using portfolio management, reporting and automation tools to improve governance efficiency

Key Requirements:

  • Significant experience across Portfolio Governance, Programme Governance, PMO, Portfolio Management or Transformation Delivery
  • Strong experience within large-scale technology, infrastructure or transformation environments
  • Excellent financial governance experience including budgeting, forecasting, financial tracking and variance analysis
  • Strong executive reporting and governance pack production experience
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong RAID, milestone and dependency management experience
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify anomalies rather than simply consolidate and report information
  • Confidence to challenge delivery teams and work effectively with senior stakeholders
  • A genuinely hands-on approach you must be comfortable personally producing packs, working with data and getting into the detail
  • Experience within complex, highly governed organisations
  • Experience within financial services or another highly regulated industry would be advantageous, as would knowledge of technology infrastructure / End User Computing environments.
  • Experience with tools such as Clarity, Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, SharePoint or Power BI would also be beneficial.

Location: Sheffield candidates must be able to attend the office 3 days per week.
