The Electrical Service Engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Hnel automated storage systems, with a strong focus on electrical systems, controls, and fault-finding. This is a field-based role working independently at customer sites to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance with current electrical regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical inspections on Hnel automated storage systems in line with current regulations.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance, annual servicing, and electrical repairs on Hnel units.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and control system faults, including wiring, sensors, motors, and PLC-related issues.
- Support and implement system upgrades, including electrical modifications and software updates.
- Assist with the installation, wiring, and commissioning of new systems at customer sites.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, prioritising electrical fault resolution.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical standards and health & safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and basic operational training to customers.
- Accurately complete and submit service reports, including electrical test results and documentation.
- Manage personal workload, travel, and scheduling efficiently.
- Maintain and develop strong technical knowledge of Hnel systems and associated electrical components.
- Represent the company professionally, maintaining a customer-focused and presentable approach.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified electrician or electrically biased engineer.
- 18th Edition (BS 7671) Wiring Regulations certification - essential.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation (desirable).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe isolation procedures.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
