We are partnering with a dynamic and innovative system integration business to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer. This company is highly regarded for developing cutting-edge, automated data acquisition, test, measurement, and control systems for a diverse range of industries including aerospace, energy, and healthcare.
Joining the system integration team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and build of bespoke control systems and instrument racks. The role provides an opportunity to deliver turnkey solutions in a fast-paced environment, working closely with software, systems, and project teams to ensure technical excellence, robust compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Requirements- Knowledge: Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. Knowledge of CE/UKCA marking and relevant safety directives (e.g., IEC 60204, BS EN 61010, BS EN 61508) is highly beneficial.
- Experience: Strong practical background backed by the ability to design electrical and electronic systems. Extensive experience with EPLAN (or alternative schematic tools like AutoCAD Electrical / SolidWorks Electrical) is essential.
- Commissioning: This role involves travelling up to 50% of the year. Proven hands-on experience in the on-site installation, debugging, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Hardware: Familiarity with mainstream PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) or National Instruments (NI) hardware platforms.
- Capabilities: A results-focused mentality with excellent problem-solving skills to analyse technical challenges and deliver creative, effective solutions. Must be able to manage time and prioritise effectively.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to support customer interactions, generate technical documentation, and foster cross-functional teamwork.
- Accurately capture and develop comprehensive electrical designs using EPlan in a timely manner.
- Select the correct control and measurement hardware based on stringent customer specifications.
- Take a hands-on approach to building, testing, and commissioning electrical systems in the workshop and on-site.
- Provide guidance on the installation and working functionality of software and hardware, including configuration settings.
- Generate robust technical documentation, including test plans, commissioning documents, and technical packs.
- Ensure all designs meet relevant standards, including IEC, ATEX, and machinery safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot problems and incompatibilities across both software and hardware, applying a practical understanding of EMC principles.
- Work alongside the business development team to develop proofs of concept and technical quotations.
- Salary: Competitive base salary dependent on experience.
