We're offering an exciting opportunity to join as a Communications & PR Apprentice. This role combines hands-on workplace experience with a fully funded Level 4 Apprenticeship, giving you the chance to build practical skills while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Role Details:

  • Location: Woodland House, Woodland Park, Hessle, England, HU13 0FA
  • Apprentice duration: 18 months
  • Basic salary: £26,500
  • Start Date: Beginning of September 2026

About the Opportunity:

You'll coordinate and create video, audio and written communications to enhance our strategic and operational messaging. You'll also support the development and maintenance of our internal communication channels including the SharePoint intranet, webinars, email, and Yammer. You'll develop transferable skills that are highly valued across many industries, helping you build a strong foundation for your future career.

Working closely with our Communications and Engagement Lead, you will:

  • Support positive engagement, helping ensure business knowledge is communicated via the most appropriate communication channel, including email, digital screens, Town halls and engagement surveys.
  • Support improvement of engagement via Digital Comms, aligned to what is going on within the wider Centrica communications team.
  • Help to improve the channels available to our business and maximise effectiveness of sharing key messages.
  • Create content for the use on vlogs and provide regular SharePoint content and the communication of positive business news and messages on Yammer, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Enhance communication campaigns, messages and events through content that brings our culture, strategy and tone of voice to life.
  • Plan, film and edit mixed media content, including video and podcasts.
  • Work to find creative solutions to engage colleagues in technical and operational messages.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of onsite and offsite meetings and events for internal and external stakeholders, including pre-visit support and travel.
  • Capture photographs and visit headlines that can be communicated across the business.
  • Primary contact with external design agencies.
  • Provide Plus+ Team support.
  • Administer local charity and volunteering requests.
  • Assist in sourcing merchandise quotations/new comms material and updates to current templates with suppliers for safety and STEM event campaigns.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5 GCSEs (including Maths & English, grades A*-C or 9-4).
  • No work experience required (this is your opportunity to energise your career).
  • Genuine interest in communications, public relations, content creation or digital media and be committed to developing their knowledge and skills through the apprenticeship programme.
  • Commitment to build a portfolio of evidence and apply learning in the workplace through relevant Communications and PR projects and activity.
  • Details of coursework, personal projects, volunteering activities or hobbies that demonstrate creativity, communication skills or digital content creation.
  • Understanding of social media and digital communication channels and how they can be used to engage different audiences.
  • An interest in photography, video production, audio content or multimedia storytelling, with a willingness to develop these skills further.
  • Excellent written communication skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Be a strong communicator.
  • Confidence working with a variety of people and building positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners.
  • Enthusiasm for learning about internal communications, events, employee engagement and corporate communications within a business environment.
