We are recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team at Arcow Quarry where you will develop your skills across a variety of plant operations whilst working in a supportive environment that values teamwork, progression and professional development.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you'll play a key role in producing high-quality aggregates for the construction industry while helping to maintain efficient, safe and reliable quarry operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating both fixed and mobile plant and machinery including loading shovels and dumpers
  • Supporting day-to-day quarry and plant operations
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and ensuring excellent housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets
  • Maximising plant performance and availability
  • Undertaking weighbridge duties
  • Assisting supervisors with daily and weekly production planning
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance
  • Promoting a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
  • Ensuring compliance with site procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work

What We're Looking For

We're interested in people who are reliable, adaptable and committed to working safely. If you already have experience in quarrying or aggregates, heavy plant manufacturing or construction then this would be useful. The ideal candidate will have experience working within an industrial, factory, manufacturing or quarry environment. You will also:

  • Be comfortable operating mobile plant equipment
  • Enjoy working as part of a team while taking ownership of your responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards health and safety
  • Have strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
  • Be flexible and adaptable to operational requirements
  • Be confident in your IT skills
  • Possess full UK driving licence
  • Mobile plant operating experience / loading shovel licence (preferred)
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work (SSOW/HIRA) is beneficial

This role is based at Arcow Quarry, Settle, North Yorkshire which is easily accessible from Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth, Wray, Kettlewell, Hawes, Skipton and the surrounding areas.
