Forward Role are supporting a fantastic Ecommerce business to find an SEO Specialist to cover maternity leave for 12 months. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone a few years into their SEO career who wants to build on strong technical foundations and get genuine cross-team exposure — working alongside IT, developers, an external digital PR agency, and an in-house content writer.

The Opportunity

This isn't a content-writing role - it's all about execution. You'll spend your time implementing SEO recommendations, digging into performance data, spotting opportunities, and keeping technical SEO projects moving. If you like seeing your work go live and watching the numbers move because of it, you'll feel right at home here. You'll be picking up an already-established SEO roadmap and keeping the momentum going across keyword targeting, technical health, on-page optimisation, and digital PR - with plenty of support from a collaborative marketing team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Keyword Research & On-Page Optimisation
    • Running keyword research and search intent analysis to support category, product, and landing page work
    • Partnering with the content writer on keyword direction, content briefs, and spotting cannibalisation or content gaps
    • Optimising meta data, internal linking, and on-page elements
    • Supporting the rollout of SEO recommendations across the site
  • Technical SEO & Site Health
    • Monitoring technical SEO and flagging crawl, indexation, and site health issues using tools like Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and Semrush
    • Working with developers to get fixes and improvements implemented
    • Keeping an eye on redirects, canonicals, robots directives, XML sitemaps, and structured data
    • Supporting core web vitals and technical performance tracking
  • Digital PR Agency Management
    • Acting as the main point of contact for the external digital PR agency
    • Briefing them on product launches and business activity to keep campaigns aligned
  • Reporting & Performance Analysis
    • Tracking rankings, traffic, and visibility — across both traditional search and AI/LLM surfaces
    • Producing regular SEO reports and turning insight into quick wins
    • Keeping tabs on competitor activity and emerging opportunities
  • Collaboration
    • Working closely with the Head of Performance Marketing to keep the SEO and content roadmaps on track
    • Collaborating across marketing, IT, development, and content to embed SEO best practice

Essential

  • 1–3 years' experience in an SEO or digital marketing role
  • Solid grasp of technical and on-page SEO principles
  • Comfortable using tools like Google Search Console, GA4, Semrush, and Screaming Frog
  • Strong communicator who can work confidently across teams and with external agencies
