We're looking for a Building Civils Design / Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Kier Design team. We're seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our award-winning Civil and Structural Engineering Team. You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of large building development projects across education, retail, defence, conservation, and commercial sectors.
Location: Nationwide β travel to the office required with some remote working available
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 40 hours per week β some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?
As a Building Civils Design / Senior Drainage Engineer, you'll be working within the Civil and Structural Engineering team, supporting them in delivering innovative and sustainable drainage solutions for major building developments. Your day-to-day will include:
- Producing and checking drainage design calculations, flood risk assessments, drawings, and sustainable drainage strategies to current standards
- Coordinating drainage and civil engineering design information across disciplines including Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Building Services Engineering
- Consulting with Lead Local Flood Authorities, planning departments, sewer operators, and the Environment Agency to obtain appropriate consents and approvals
- Setting sustainable drainage strategies for projects, including SuDS design using CIRIA C753 guidance and compliance with Building Regulations
- Acting as the lead drainage engineer on major and complex building civils projects, representing the team at project meetings
What are we looking for?
This Building Civils Design / Senior Drainage Engineer role would suit someone who:
- Holds a degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Sciences, and is Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE or CIWEM
- Brings strong experience designing drainage and SuDS systems, with hands-on use of tools such as Innovyze InfoDrainage
- Has a solid understanding of underground drainage design, aligned to current European Standards and Building Regulations (Approved Document H)
- Is confident working with statutory bodies and Lead Local Flood Authorities on flood risk and mitigation strategies
- Is committed to continuous professional development, with a genuine interest in delivering sustainable, low-carbon design solutions
