Location: Seaton - Devon

Hours: Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 5.30pm (or as required)

Reporting to: Senior Clerk

Salary: £600 for 5 day week (Mon-Fri) | 28 days paid holiday (includes bank holidays)

We are recruiting for a Junior Clerk to join a busy and professional barrister clerking team working at our admin offices in Seaton, Devon. Our barristers offer legal services throughout England & Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in clerking and practice management within the legal sector. On-site 5 days week.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide an effective and efficient practice management service, supporting barristers and clerks to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of chambers. You will play a key role in diary management, client liaison and court preparation working closely with the Senior Clerk and the other clerks.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Clerking Duties
  • Providing a high-quality clerking and practice management service at all times
  • Managing high volume email traffic quickly and efficiently
  • Answering telephone calls promptly and professionally
  • Handling enquiries from solicitors, clients and third parties, ensuring accurate records are maintained
  • Entering and managing bookings, digital papers and notes on the booking systems
  • Managing barristers' diaries and ensuring accurate court listings, venues and timings
  • Assisting with fee quotes, billing and fee chasing as directed by Senior Clerk

Additional Responsibilities

  • Deputising for clerks during periods of absence, as agreed
  • Supporting inter-team cooperation to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Presenting a professional image of chambers at all times
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the practice management function
