We have an immediate opportunity for 2 responsible FLT / Yard Operatives to join our clients operations team. You will play a vital role in managing the safe and efficient movement of stock within the yard. This role requires someone who can work on their own initiative, is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and is committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload vehicles, ensuring all material is secured correctly and processed accurately.
- Stock Management: Store stock correctly and ensure the yard remains organised, tidy, and safe.
- Customer Service: Ensure customer requirements regarding material handling are met efficiently.
- Equipment Operation: Operate Forklift Trucks (FLT), Overhead Cranes (OHC), as required to move material around the site.
- Manual Handling: Ability to carry out manual work in line with established manual handling procedures.
- Maintenance & Safety: Keep all equipment in good working order, reporting any issues or faults immediately. Work strictly in accordance with all Works and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience: Previous experience in a heavy industry or steel environment is essential.
- Steel section experience: Up to 18.3m & knowledge of beam, column & channel.
- Equipment Operation: Proven experience using FLT, Overhead Cranes, and performing lifting and slinging.
- Safety Awareness: A strong awareness of safe vehicle loading, security, weight distribution, and Health & Safety procedures.
- Loading/Unloading Expertise: Experience loading and unloading wide loads on flatbed trailers.
- Work Ethic: The ability to work independently using your own initiative and thrive in an outdoor work environment regardless of the weather.
