We're looking for an experienced Production Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke electrical control systems for the agricultural sector and is looking to expand its close-knit team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll play a key role in designing bespoke control panels, supporting the sales process, and working closely with production to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
What's on offer
- Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE
- Hours: Monday to Thursday (8:00am - 4:30pm) Friday (8:00am-3:30pm)
- Location: Fully office-based
- Holidays: 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
Key responsibilities
- Design bespoke electrical control panels and control systems to meet customer specifications.
- Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts and assembly drawings using SEE Electrical.
- Modify and maintain mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings using Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
- Work closely with the sales team to review customer enquiries and prepare technical quotations.
- Provide technical advice and product support to both customers and internal colleagues.
- Carry out testing and quality inspections of completed control panels prior to dispatch.
- Support new product development and continuous product improvements.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, sharing technical knowledge and supporting the wider team where required.
- There will be occasional customer interaction, including answering incoming calls and providing technical support when required.
- On very rare occasions, attend customer sites to assist with technical issues or breakdowns.
About you
- Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Production Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer or similar role.
- Experience designing electrical control panels and bespoke control systems.
- Proficient in SEE Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
- Experience using SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings.
- Good understanding of electrical principles, motors and associated control systems.
- Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers and colleagues.
- A proactive team player who enjoys working within a collaborative office environment.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
- Knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition).
- Knowledge of BS EN 60204.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial controls or agricultural engineering.
