We're looking for a Senior Technology Design Engineer to lead the delivery and assurance of highways technology solutions across major infrastructure programmes. You'll act as a technical authority, owning design outputs from concept through to implementation, driving right-first-time delivery, and ensuring solutions are compliant, integrated and future-ready. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in delivering ITS, communications and smart infrastructure systems aligned to National Highways standards.

- HNC/Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering or equivalent relevant field?
- An experienced highways technology engineer with strong ITS expertise?
- Confident leading design delivery and technical assurance activities?
- Knowledgeable in National Highways standards (e.g. DMRB) and governance frameworks?
- Comfortable acting as a technical authority across complex projects?
- A strong leader who can mentor and develop engineers?

What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Technology Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Technology Design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality highways technology design solutions. Your day to day will include:
- Leading the delivery of complex technology design (ITS, communications, power) from concept through to implementation
- Owning design outputs, ensuring solutions are buildable, maintainable and right-first-time
- Acting as technical authority within design assurance, leading reviews, checks and gateway approvals
- Ensuring compliance with DMRB, National Highways and industry standards, managing technical risk
- Providing SME leadership across ITS, communications networks and smart infrastructure systems
- Driving multidisciplinary integration across civil, electrical, mechanical and systems teams
- Acting as a key technical interface for clients, leading workshops and stakeholder engagement
- Supporting programme delivery through reporting on progress, risk and performance
- Driving continuous improvement, digital engineering and BIM adoption
- Leading input into bids and developing innovative, compliant and competitive solutions
- Mentoring and developing engineers, building team capability and high-performance culture
