As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll design, develop and commission bespoke electrical and control systems for advanced automated machinery. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll take projects from concept and design through build, FAT, commissioning and installation, with involvement in sales support and aftermarket service.
You'll work on complex, innovative automation projects across the pharmaceutical, medical device and FMCG sectors, with plenty of opportunity to apply your technical expertise, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Pay, Hours and Benefits
- £55,000 - £65,000
- 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility and hybrid working
- Every other Friday off enjoy a 3-day weekend every fortnight
- 36 days holiday (including bank holidays - with the option to buy and sell days)

Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified
- Proven experience designing control panels, machine wiring and safety systems
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or similar
- Good knowledge of European Low Voltage, Machinery and EMC Directives
- Working knowledge of IEC 60204-1 and ISO 13849-1 / functional safety
- Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems and motion control, including servo drives and inverters
- Experience delivering projects within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Proactive, adaptable and highly organised, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Desirable Experience
- Special-purpose machinery and automated equipment
- Beckhoff / Siemens control systems
- Pharmaceutical equipment and control systems
- SISTEMA / machine safety experience or qualification
- Commercially aware, with basic programming and knowledge of mechanical/pneumatic systems
Key Responsibilities
- Own electrical design projects from initial proposal and concept through to delivery and aftermarket support
- Lead project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget and with risks identified and managed
- Collaborate with customers and multidisciplinary teams to develop machine concepts and respond to technical requirements
- Support Sales and Applications with technical input, proposals and future project development
- Produce essential technical documentation, including hardware specifications, test records, risk assessments, BOMs and O&M manuals
- Support build, FAT, validation and commissioning, including on-site installation and customer handover
- Provide technical leadership and problem-solving, mentoring junior engineers while working with Mechanical and Software teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement
