We are recruiting reliable and conscientious 7.5T (C1) Sweeper Drivers for a local authority environmental services operation based in Staines. This role involves operating a road sweeper whilst also carrying out manual street cleansing duties to help maintain public areas, town centres and market locations. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering long-term stability with immediate starts available.

Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rotating 2-week rota
PAY
- Standard Rate
- Basic Hourly Rate: £16.00
- Holiday Pay (Rolled Up): £2.22
- Total Hourly Pay (Inclusive): £18.22
- Overtime: Available during seasonal periods
- Pay Frequency: Weekly
SHIFT PATTERN
Week 1
- Wednesday Friday: 06:00 AM - 1:30 PM
- Saturday: 06:00 AM - 12:30 PM
- Evening Market Duties: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Week 2
- Monday Thursday: 06:00 AM - 1:30 PM
- Friday: 06:00 AM - 12:00 PM
30-minute unpaid break applies to all shifts except Saturday (Week 1) and Friday (Week 2).
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Operating a 7.5T road sweeper safely and efficiently
- Maintaining the cleanliness of streets, market areas and public spaces
- Carrying out evening market cleansing duties when required
- Completing daily vehicle safety inspections and reporting defects
- Washing and maintaining the sweeper vehicle to a high standard
- Leaving the vehicle when required to manually remove litter and debris
- Cleaning beneath benches, around street furniture and other hard-to-reach areas
- Carrying out litter picking and general environmental maintenance duties
- Working safely around pedestrians, businesses and market traders
- Following all health & safety procedures and operational guidelines
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Full UK 7.5T (Category C1) Licence
- Valid CPC Card preferred
- Digital Tachograph Card preferred
- Good understanding of vehicle safety and daily vehicle checks
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual cleaning duties
- Strong awareness of public safety when operating vehicles in busy pedestrian areas
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Desirable
- Previous experience operating road sweepers or similar specialist vehicles
- Experience within street cleansing, waste management, environmental services or local authority operations
