Production / Process Operator - Forklift - Manufacturing in Redditch

Our client is a fast-growing multi sector speciality distributor of chemicals and raw materials to the UK Manufacturing Industry. They are now seeking a Process Manufacturing / Warehousing Operator. This position is site based in Redditch, Worcestershire and is a full-time permanent role working on a shift basis (Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day between the hours of 6am to 10pm) reporting to the Process Lead.

Job Purpose

Carry out day-to-day processing operations support within our clients Manufacturing and Warehouse Services concerning industrial powder packing/repacking, food & chemical processing, stock management and Health & Safety requirements. As required, support the other functions within the warehouse.

Work with the Process Lead to ensure all processing requirements for our clients Manufacturing Services are met. Support the Process Lead to develop the capabilities for the food and chemical processing and laboratory formulation activities. This position is primarily focused on the industrial powder packing/repacking processes at the clients site; however, cross-site working may be required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing: Work and assist in the production, packing and re-packing activities within the Rooms Industrial Powder Packing/Repacking facility, Food Production Rooms and Warehouse areas in our clients 3 sites.
• Manage stock levels in conjunction with the Process Lead.
• Carry out cleaning activities to maintain a high standard of hygiene in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the writing and review of procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Support other processing activities as required.
• Checking finished records to ensure the right first-time compliance.
• Managing warehouse and stock movements.
• Produce weekly and monthly stock reports directly relating to chemical and food processing activities.
• Ensure all packaging is available when needed.
• Taking photos, scanning documents and emailing.
• Facilitating stock audit.
• Record and maintain Work Instructions to accredited standards (BRC, FSSC, ISO).
• Re-ordering consumables.
• Liaising with QC and H&S to maintain standards of Quality Management processes, Health and Safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.

Goods Dispatch

• Arrange transport for finished goods including deliveries and collections.
• Liaising with customers hauliers to arrange collections, deliveries and maintaining detailed records of these transactions in conjunction with BSC.

Health and Safety

• Ensuring correct handling of materials at all times.
• Follow the requirements of the MSDS to ensure safe handling.
• Ensure high food safety standards are met at all times.
• Safe loading & unloading of materials and finished goods.
• Raising near miss and incident reports.
• Identifying locations of raw materials and finished products.
• Checking receipt of orders against a purchase order.
• Warehouse cleanliness.
• As and when necessary, support other warehouse staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• Manufacturing experience to BRC, FSSC, GMP or similar standards.
• A Forklift Truck licence and full driving license.
• Clear written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail, particularly with respect to weights and measures.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Professional telephone manner.
• Understanding SDS, COSHH and Risk Assessments.

Desirable but not essential

• Knowledge of handling chemicals, as would a qualification in labelling and packing in accordance with IATA and ADR Regulations, although training will be provided.
• Operating within a warehouse environment.
• Experience within a customer service environment.
