We are currently looking for a compassionate, resilient and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our team starting in September!

The successful Mental Health Teaching Assistant will be supporting children and young people with a range of mental health, social and emotional needs. You will focus on supporting them to build resilience, develop coping strategies and achieve positive outcomes in a safe and engaging environment.

Your responsibilities as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant will involve providing 1 to 1 and small group support to students. You will also focus on promoting educational wellbeing, resilience and positive behaviour through structured and personalized intervention plans. You will support the class teacher and any educational psychologists or therapists involved in the students' development with facilitating their intervention and therapeutic plans. Additionally, you will be involved in monitoring and recording progress concerning all students. Overall, you will work at maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive environment at all times.

The suitable Mental Health Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have some experience working with children (desirable but not essential!)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have a passion for working with mental health needs and interested in making a real difference
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and the importance of keeping children safe
