Job Title: Digital Engineering Product Manager - Requirements Management
Type of work: Contract
Duration: 12 months (likely to extend)
Rate: Β£550-630 a day Inside IR35
Clearance: Current active UK SC is required
Working Arrangement: 1-2 days a week onsite in Reading
The Opportunity
Imagine helping to define how the next generation of complex engineering programmes are designed, developed and delivered.
We're recruiting for a Digital Engineering Product Manager to lead the evolution of a critical Requirements Management capability within a major UK engineering programme.
This isn't a traditional Product Manager or Delivery Manager position. It's an opportunity to own a key engineering capability that sits at the heart of Digital Engineering, connecting engineering teams, digital technologies and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured, managed and delivered throughout the engineering lifecycle.
You'll work with some of the UK's leading engineering specialists, influencing how future engineering environments are developed while helping deliver a programme that will shape the future of aerospace and defence.
Whether you're already leading Requirements Management capability, managing engineering systems or looking to move from Systems Engineering into a strategic product leadership role, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact on a nationally significant programme.
The Role
As Digital Engineering Product Manager, you'll own the roadmap and continuous development of the Requirements Management capability.
Working across engineering, digital and technology teams, you'll gather and mature business requirements, translate them into product roadmaps and delivery priorities, and ensure the right capabilities are delivered at the right time.
You'll become the focal point between engineering users and technical delivery teams, ensuring requirements are understood, prioritised and successfully implemented across a complex Digital Engineering landscape.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning the roadmap for the Requirements Management capability
Engaging engineering stakeholders to understand future capability needs
Translating business and engineering requirements into prioritised product backlogs
Driving continuous improvement across engineering processes and digital tools
Working with Product Owners, architects and technology partners to deliver new capability
Ensuring requirements remain traceable throughout the engineering lifecycle
Supporting governance, compliance and engineering standards
Managing stakeholder relationships across engineering, technology and supplier organisations
Supporting business change, user adoption and training
Balancing immediate delivery priorities with long-term Digital Engineering strategy
This role offers a unique blend of Product Management, stakeholder engagement, engineering transformation and delivery leadership.
The Person
We're interested in people who understand how engineering organisations operate and who enjoy bringing together people, technology and process to solve complex problems.
You may already be working as a Product Manager, Product Owner or Delivery Manager within Digital Engineering, or perhaps you're a Requirements Manager, Systems Engineering Lead or Engineering Systems Manager looking to move into a broader product leadership role.
What matters most is your ability to work with stakeholders, understand engineering challenges and drive the delivery of digital capability.
You'll ideally have experience of:
Digital Engineering, Engineering Systems or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Requirements Management within complex engineering environments
Product Management, Product Ownership or Delivery Management
Engineering transformation or business change
Working with engineering and technology stakeholders
Managing product roadmaps, backlogs or capability development
Regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive, rail or advanced manufacturing
Experience with tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, IBM DOORS (or similar Requirements Management platforms) would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in candidates who have developed comparable capabilities using alternative engineering toolsets.
You'll be comfortable working in fast-moving, collaborative environments where influencing stakeholders is just as important as technical understanding.
Current Security Clearance is essential.
