Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of fit-out and refurbishment projects.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering fit-out and refurbishment projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware individual who is capable of managing projects independently and taking ownership of the commercial function from procurement through to final account.
The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are commercially successful and delivered within budget. This role is purely Quantity Surveying focused, with no estimating responsibilities required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial delivery of fit-out and refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Prepare subcontractor enquiry packages, analyse quotations, and manage procurement activities
- Negotiate and appoint subcontractors in line with project budgets and programme requirements
- Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations, payments, and final accounts
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining profitability
- Work closely with site and operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
- Ensure contractual compliance and effective administration of subcontract agreements
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Support senior management with wider business and project objectives
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' experience within a Quantity Surveyor role
- Previous fit-out and refurbishment experience is essential
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
- Proven experience managing subcontractor procurement and accounts
- Ability to manage project costs, reporting, and forecasting independently
- Must be able to work on own initiative and manage workloads effectively
- Commercially aware with strong negotiation and communication skills
- Stable career history preferred
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management preferred
- Good IT skills including Excel and commercial reporting systems
Desirable:
- Experience working for a fit-out or refurbishment contractor
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
- Experience delivering projects across commercial or residential interiors sectors
