The Opportunity
We're supporting a leading global technology and consulting organisation in the Critical National Infrastructure space, seeking a Senior Deployment and Integration Engineer to join an onsite support team in Prestwick. You'll play a key role in the deployment, integration and support of operational systems that underpin UK critical national infrastructure. This is a customer-facing role combining Linux, virtualisation, networking, automation and troubleshooting, working closely with both onsite stakeholders and offshore engineering teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing 3rd line (expert) support for operational ATM systems, including incident investigation and root-cause analysis
- Collaborating with offshore development teams to diagnose and resolve complex issues
- Supporting deployment and maintenance of training, test and operational environments
- Acting as an engineering focal point during integration and validation activities with operational end users
- Deploying and integrating hardware/software into customer and internal environments
- Producing technical documentation (procedures, high-level designs, network designs)
- Building strong relationships with customer stakeholders and helping identify improvement opportunities
What We're Looking For (Essential)
- Experience with integration testing of software systems
- Strong background in a formal IT infrastructure environment
- Linux (ideally RHEL)
- Virtualisation: VMware and/or KVM
- Log analysis and troubleshooting
- Scripting: Bash/shell and/or Python
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, multicast, routing
- Network troubleshooting tools: tcpdump, Wireshark
- Software installation & fault-finding
- Automation/provisioning: Ansible or Puppet
- Confident communicator - able to explain technical topics to mixed technical/non-technical stakeholders
- Strong customer-facing skills; calm under pressure
- Willingness to travel occasionally (business need)

- Containers: Docker / Kubernetes
- Experience working across highly distributed teams
