About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team based in our Brighton office, with a strong background in building scalable, high-quality, and high-performance software solutions. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software that is critical to our flagship access control products. You will:

  • Design solutions for new features and bug fixes according to project requirements and specifications.
  • Provide leadership for project requirements, planning and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Apps and Cloud teams.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of user interfaces, back end API services, mobile apps, and cloud services, using test driven design methodologies and best practice.
  • Identify problems or risks early on in the development cycle to help the team avoid or mitigate these risks to ensure efficient delivery of work.
  • Help provide input and suggestions to other team members' designs or take part in the decision-making process to ensure progress on tasks and deliverables.
  • Play an active part in reviewing your own and other people's code throughout the development process to help the team ensure good coding practices.
  • Review and provide feedback on requirements, specifications and designs to assure product quality.
  • Actively contribute towards decisions on overall architecture and technologies used in our software products.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in a lead or senior Software Engineering role, leading projects, work blocks or programmes.
  • Extensive experience developing and delivering software solutions in C# and .NET, integrating databases and Web APIs, and utilising Azure cloud services within modern application architectures.
  • Front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, Angular or React would be advantageous.
  • Ability to coach, support and develop colleagues, delegating work effectively and helping others to achieve their full potential.
  • An excellent team player who enjoys collaborating with other developers on your team.
  • The right attitude is more important to us than your skills or experience. If you're excited about a role but your existing experience doesn't match up with every element of the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
  • We want to collaborate with you and hear your ideas; most of all, we want people to enjoy the journey with us.
