Buckingham Futures is recruiting Port Health Officers in Essex for a dynamic role at the border. Key responsibilities:

  • Inspect imported food and feed to ensure compliance with UK and international regulations.
  • Enforce legislation to prevent non-compliant consignments from entering the country.
  • Monitor and supervise operations at Border Control Posts.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies such as the FSA, DEFRA, and UK Border Force.
  • Conduct risk assessments, food sampling, and environmental pollution control.

What Buckingham Futures are looking for:

  • BSc/MSc in Environmental Health (CIEH-approved) & EHORB registration.
  • Chartered Member of CIEH with strong knowledge of food safety and public health legislation.
  • Experience in port health enforcement, inspections, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in PHILIS, IPAFFS, Destin8, CNS Compass.
  • Full UK driving licence & own vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Qualification as an Official Fishery Inspector.
  • Experience in food sampling, risk-based inspections, and border controls.
