Morson Talent is looking for skilled and motivated Mechanical Support Technicians to support mechanical production activities across a diverse range of platforms,
including surface ships, submarines, and factory-based operations.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background and a passion for precision engineering in a defence or marine environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the mechanical assembly, maintenance, and repair of components and systems on naval vessels and within factory settings.
- Support production teams with tooling, materials, and technical guidance.
- Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis, and basic testing of mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, management, and quality teams to resolve production issues.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
- Familiarity with working on marine platforms (surface ships or submarines) or in industrial manufacturing or maintenance environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of health & safety practices in high-risk environments.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Desirable experience
- Defence, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and propulsion systems.
The role requires candidates to obtain and maintain SC Security clearance for this role.
Hours
Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 15:30, Friday 07:30 - 12:30 - 35 std hours per week. Shift and additional hours a possibility.
Pay
Std £19.53 per hour (PAYE)
Std £24.27/£25.34 per hour (UMB)
