Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Plymouth (on-site)
Salary: £44,000 per annum

Our client, a leading manufacturing business in Plymouth, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

This role involves working on varied shift patterns to ensure the reliability and safety of manufacturing assets.

The position offers opportunities for training and continuous development within a safety-focused environment.

The Role

  • Adhere to company rules, health and safety, and environmental standards.
  • Perform preventative planned maintenance tasks to ensure asset safety and reliability.
  • Conduct fault finding on all assets and repair machine breakdowns.
  • Identify and support corrective actions on asset and process limitations.
  • Work with and install single phase and three phase electrical circuits.
  • Engage in training and continuous development opportunities as required.
  • Continuously seek to improve the reliability and cost-effectiveness of all assets.
  • Contribute to the company's objectives and values.

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Competent at using preventative maintenance systems and performing breakdown repairs
  • Good understanding of and proactive engagement in health and safety requirements
  • Capable of working under pressure and responding effectively to unplanned issues
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to undertake shift work, including back shift, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Competent in wearing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses

  • Knowledge and understanding of 5s and lean manufacturing techniques
  • Competent at the use of IT software, such as Microsoft
