As SOCOTEC continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and organised Planner to join our Flow Planning Team in Leeds. In this role, you'll work closely with field crews, clients, and internal teams to ensure monitoring activities are planned efficiently, safely, and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

You’ll need to be confident working independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a wider team. Experience in planning, scheduling, or coordination roles is essential, along with an understanding of water quality monitoring practices and environmental regulations.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify and prioritise sites to be inspected by the field crews, from our clients proposed data using MapInfo (GIS software) and Google maps.
  • Create and apply for traffic permits using MapInfo, Google and field crew information.
  • Contact land/business owners to arrange access and permissions for site crews.
  • Create Land Entry Notices (LENS) in MapInfo using data from the site investigation and Land registry.
  • Liaise with field crews.
  • Create daily/weekly plans for site field crews using Teamleaf our internal work management system, using information gathered from land registry and traffic permits applied for.
  • Manage incoming paperwork and electronic site sheets including data and photographs returned from site and maintain data sets and create reports as required.
  • Provide supporting information on crew and contracts performance as required.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of planning procedures and processes with Teamleaf for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with external clients as required.

Qualifications

To be a successful Planner, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in planning, scheduling, coordination, or operational support roles.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including telephone and written correspondence with stakeholders and landowners.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in data management, documentation, and reporting.
  • Problem-solving ability, especially in relation to site access and operational constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn bespoke systems quickly.
