We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Housing Association in the West Midlands for an experienced Housing Officer to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference by supporting residents, managing neighbourhoods, and helping create safe, sustainable communities. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working from home, the office, and across your designated housing patch, giving you variety while ensuring you remain visible and accessible to residents.

Key Responsibilities Of A Housing Officer:

  • Managing a designated portfolio of tenancies and delivering a high-quality housing management service.
  • Investigating and managing anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases from initial report through to resolution, ensuring accurate case management and timely action.
  • Working closely with residents, local authorities, the police, and other partner agencies to tackle ASB and improve community safety.
  • Taking appropriate enforcement action where required, including preparing documentation and supporting legal proceedings where necessary.
  • Carrying out tenancy visits, estate inspections, and property audits.
  • Managing tenancy breaches, neighbourhood disputes, and tenancy sustainment cases.
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and supporting vulnerable residents through referrals and partnership working.
  • Supporting residents to sustain their tenancies while balancing customer service with effective tenancy enforcement.
  • Assisting with tenancy sign-ups, mutual exchanges, successions, and ending tenancies.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with housing legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.

About You:

  • Previous experience as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, Tenancy Officer, or in a similar housing management role.
  • Significant experience managing anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases, including investigations, evidence gathering, partnership working, and enforcement action.
  • A sound understanding of housing legislation, tenancy management, and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • The confidence to make balanced decisions while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate housing management records.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or the ability to travel regularly across the housing patch).
