The Role

The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home provides high-quality, child-centred care. The Deputy Manager role will involve working a mix of 7:00am - 10:00pm and 08:30 - 4:30 with the occasional sleep-in shifts when required. The role combines leadership, staff development, safeguarding, care planning and the day-to-day management of the home. • Provide leadership and guidance to the residential care team.
  • Promote consistent, child-centred approaches across the home.
  • Support staff with challenging situations and behavioural concerns.

  • Support staff supervision, training and development.
  • Assist with staff inductions and ongoing development.
  • Ensure care plans, risk assessments and records are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor daily records and care documentation.
  • Support safeguarding procedures and ensure concerns are appropriately managed.
  • Work with social workers, education providers, health professionals and other agencies.
  • Attend meetings, reviews and professional discussions where required.
  • Support the Registered Manager with inspections, audits and compliance.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured and welcoming home environment.
  • Take responsibility for the home when the Registered Manager is unavailable.
  • Promote positive behaviour through clear boundaries, consistency and appropriate support.
  • Help ensure the home operates in line with company policies and relevant regulations.

About the Young People

The home will support young people who may have experienced trauma and significant emotional or behavioural difficulties. The successful candidate will need to understand the importance of relationship-based care, consistency and positive behaviour support. You will support the team to respond appropriately to challenging behaviour while maintaining clear boundaries and promoting the young person's welfare and development.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experienced children's residential care professional with strong leadership skills and a practical approach.
  • Essential Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children's Residential Care.
  • Experience working within a children's residential setting.

  • Reliable and organised.
  • Confident making decisions.
  • Able to support and motivate staff.
  • Professional and approachable.
  • Committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people.

What Keystone Offers

  • £16.00 - £17.50 per hour, depending on experience.

As a new organisation, Keystone is developing its services with a strong focus on high standards of care, staff support and positive outcomes for young people. The Deputy Manager will have an important role in establishing these standards and supporting the team as the home develops.
