Role Overview The Fire Door Inspector will be responsible for carrying out detailed inspections of fire doors and fire exit doors across commercial, residential, and local authority properties.
The role involves assessing compliance with current fire safety regulations, accurately recording findings, and producing high-quality reports to support clients in maintaining safe and compliant premises.
Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of fire safety assets, including apartment entrance doors, communal fire doors, and fire exit doors.
Assess fire doors and escape routes to ensure compliance with relevant fire safety legislation and standards.
Accurately record inspection findings using PDA and digital reporting systems.
Identify defects, non-compliances, and areas requiring remedial action.
Produce detailed and accurate inspection reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
Travel to multiple sites daily across the UK, with occasional overnight stays where required.
Liaise professionally with clients, residents, site managers, and contractors during inspections.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Maintain inspection records and update company systems in a timely manner.
Participate in ongoing training and development to remain up to date with fire safety legislation and industry best practice.
Qualifications Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
Enhanced DBS Check, or willingness to obtain one (essential).
Fire Door Inspection qualification or relevant fire safety accreditation (desirable).
Knowledge of fire safety regulations and building compliance standards (desirable).
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience Previous experience carrying out fire door inspections, building compliance audits, property inspections, or similar surveying activities.
Strong understanding of fire safety principles and compliance requirements.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and non-compliance issues.
Experience using handheld devices, tablets, or PDA systems for reporting.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
Other Requirements Willingness to travel nationally and stay away from home when required.
Ability to walk numerous steps, navigate stairs, use ladders, and access confined spaces during inspections.
