Shift Engineer position in Northampton with a salary of £57,500 plus overtime. The role involves 12-hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) followed by 18 days off.

The company is a growing local business, part of a multi-billion-pound global manufacturer, at their flagship UK site. They are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer, mechanically biased, to work a shift rota that provides 90 days off a year plus additional off days between shifts.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all production, processing & packaging machinery
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding and repairs
  • Complete PPM & TPM schedules
  • Dealing with motors, conveyors, PLCs, gearboxes, drives, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics
  • Project work - new machine installs and continuous improvements
  • Ordering spares, parts and maintaining site CMMS

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Multi-skilled engineer with a mechanical bias
  • Experience working on industrial production, processing & packaging machinery
  • At least 5 years' experience outside of apprenticeship
  • Ideally completed a formal apprenticeship scheme
  • NVQ or City Guilds qualified to level 3 or higher
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern with holidays built into a yearly rota
  • Computer literate - able to use SAP systems / CMMS
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, control panels, gearboxes
  • Beneficial if able to do welding, fabrication and fitting work
  • Passionate about reliability engineering, continuous improvements, asset care management
