Senior Logistics WMS Project Manager
6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | 2-3 Days Onsite | Northampton | UK Travel
We're looking for an experienced Senior Logistics WMS Project Manager to join a growing logistics operation on an initial 6-month contract, outside IR35.
Additional project capacity is required to support a number of upcoming customer implementations, including new warehouse setups, WMS deployments and operational change projects.
One project is expected to utilise a new automated warehouse, with another potentially based at a different UK customer location.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the logistics and operational delivery of multiple projects, typically managing 2-3 projects concurrently.
This could include one medium-to-large project alongside one or two smaller customer implementations.
This is not a traditional IT Project Manager role.
We're looking for someone with a strong 3PL, logistics and warehouse operations background who understands how to translate project plans into successful operational delivery.
You'll work closely with senior leadership, operational teams, customers and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to plan.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the logistics and operational delivery of multiple WMS and warehouse projects.
Manage new customer implementations, warehouse setups and WMS deployments.
Work closely with 3PL operations, warehouse teams, customers and technology partners.
Challenge operational plans and identify risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
Manage project milestones, resources, issues, risks and dependencies.
Present project updates clearly to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with customers and confidently manage expectations.
Support the implementation of automated warehouse solutions and new operating models.
Coordinate activity across operational, commercial, technical and customer-facing teams.
Ensure projects transition effectively into business-as-usual operations.
About You
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
Strong 3PL / logistics / warehouse operations experience.
Proven experience delivering WMS or warehouse implementation projects.
A practical understanding of warehouse processes, systems and operational change.
Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
The confidence to engage with senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to clearly present complex information and challenge assumptions when required.
A hands-on, commercially aware and operationally focused approach.
Experience working within fast-paced customer implementation environments.
The flexibility to travel to customer sites across the UK when required.
- Contract Details
- Duration: 6 months
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Northampton, with 2-3 days onsite per week
Travel: Potential additional travel to customer sites across the UK
Projects: Multiple concurrent logistics, WMS and warehouse implementation projects
Why This Role?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 3PL / Logistics Project Manager to play a key role in delivering high-profile warehouse and WMS transformation projects, including the implementation of a new automated warehouse.
If you're an operationally strong project manager who can speak the language of logistics, challenge senior stakeholders and deliver projects successfully on the ground, we'd like to hear from you.
