Salary: £44,000 per annum + Overtime

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Our client, a well-established and successful manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team in Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, plant machinery, and site services to ensure maximum operational efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fault finding, servicing, and repair of production machinery and plant equipment
  • Maintenance of machine drive mechanisms and rotating machinery
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and process systems
  • Maintenance and testing of plant services and site facilities
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults efficiently
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures

Requirements

  • Recognised engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial maintenance environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with:
    • Conveyors
    • Elevators
    • Grinders
    • Weighing equipment
    • Rotating machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities

Desirable Skills

  • Multi-skilled engineer with mechanical bias and electrical fault-finding experience
  • Pneumatics experience
  • Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 07:30 - 17:30
  • 1-hour lunch break
  • Daily overtime included:
    • 7.5 hours paid at basic rate
    • 1.5 hours paid at 1.5x overtime rate

Following a successful probation period (maximum 6 months), engineers participate in an on-call rota, typically one week in six, with the option to work night shifts during call-out weeks. Please note: Applicants must be willing to participate in on-call rotas and work weekend overtime when required.
