Uniserve is seeking a professional and customer-focused Class 1 Tramper Driver to join our Northampton transport operation. The role involves the safe and efficient collection and delivery of a wide range of products across the UK using curtain-sided trailers. Loads will include, but are not limited to, glass jars, glass bottles, packaging products and general freight. This position is ideally suited to an experienced driver who enjoys working independently, maintaining high safety standards and delivering excellent customer service while spending up to four nights away from home each week.
Salary: £45,148
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 50+ hours per week with up to 4 nights per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 (Category C+E) vehicles in accordance with legislation and company procedures
- Complete multi-site collections and deliveries across the UK
- Transport a variety of goods including glass jars, glass bottles and other palletised products
- Ensure loads are secured correctly and transported safely
- Operate curtain-sided trailers, including opening and closing curtains safely
- Complete all required vehicle checks before, during and after shifts using company systems
- Accurately complete delivery paperwork, PODs and electronic documentation
- Adhere to all driver hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents or delays promptly
- Maintain the cleanliness and security of the vehicle and trailer
- Deliver excellent customer service at all collection and delivery points
- Represent Uniserve professionally at all times

Essential Requirements:
- Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence
- Current Driver CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Good understanding of drivers' hours and working time regulations
- Experience operating curtain-sided trailers
- Ability to work away from home up to four nights per week
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Good communication and customer service skills
Desirable Requirements:
- Previous tramping experience
- Experience transporting fragile or high-value products
- Forklift awareness or load securing training
- Experience within a palletised distribution or logistics environment
