An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join the Fixed Asset Finance team at Speedy Hire. This role offers a chance to play a key part in preparing monthly fixed asset management accounts for UK&I and providing valuable financial support to the fixed asset operational team. Main Responsibilities

  • Monthly Fixed Asset Management Accounts: Assist in the preparation of the monthly fixed asset management accounts for UK&I trading businesses, ensuring the timely delivery in line with prescribed schedules.
  • Commercial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct commercial analysis of the monthly fixed asset management accounts, focusing on balance sheet management. Produce, interpret, and analyse standard reports to provide an accurate reflection of business performance, offering commentary and business solutions where required.
  • Trend Monitoring & Action Implementation: Monitor trends in both products and asset movements. Identify and implement actions to address issues and maximise opportunities within the division.
  • Month-End Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations and monthly performance review packs for the Fixed Asset Manager.
  • Budget & Forecast Support: Support the Finance Managers with the budget and reforecast process, specifically regarding fixed asset movements.
  • Depot Inefficiency Review: Collaborate with operational management to review inefficiencies in asset management and ensure performance plans are put in place, making recommendations to the Finance Business Partners.
  • External Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation for the half-year and year-end external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis & Projects: Undertake any additional analysis or projects as required by the Senior Finance Manager Balance Sheet.
  • Peer Support & Stakeholder Liaison: Provide support to peers and act as a liaison between operational management and UK&I support functions.
  • KPI & Financial Review: Review KPIs and financial information to ensure that the performance of fixed asset management is consistently improving.
  • Ongoing Development: Ensure appropriate training and development is undertaken to support continued growth in the role.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Core Competencies & Skills: Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Assertive and confident in decision-making. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Strong problem-solving and judgment application skills. Good commercial and analytical abilities to support business improvements.
  • Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Working towards a relevant accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Knowledge of Speedy Hires operational businesses is advantageous. Experience working with ERP applications, particularly D365 and BPC, is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor communications to different audiences.
