The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Engineer to join the team delivering a £20m new-build Distribution Centre in Newport. Working for a well-established main contractor with an excellent reputation in the industrial and logistics sector, you'll take the lead on all site engineering activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in line with programme and quality expectations. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major project from the early stages and play a key role in its successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site engineering activities, including setting out and technical support.
- Review and coordinate drawings, specifications and design information.
- Oversee quality assurance procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and temporary works.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, including as-built drawings and technical documentation.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements.
- Monitor quality standards across all engineering activities.
- Support the Site and Project Management team with technical expertise.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate subcontractors and resolve technical issues on site.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Engineer on large industrial, logistics or commercial construction projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete, steel frame construction and external works.
- Experience managing QA procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Proficient in the use of Leica or Trimble surveying equipment.
