We are working with a welcoming and supportive school in Newbury seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while making a meaningful difference to students' academic progress and confidence.

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting students both in the classroom and through small-group and one-to-one interventions. Your role will help pupils develop their understanding of English while encouraging engagement, confidence and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students during English lessons through one-to-one and small-group interventions.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and effective classroom management.
  • Help students understand key English concepts and complete classwork.
  • Provide additional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and other learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation and confidence within the classroom.
  • Prepare learning resources and support differentiated learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in English or a closely related subject.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Patience, empathy and a proactive, positive approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
  • The ability to commute to Newbury.
