Are you a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a technically varied role within the renewable energy and power generation sector? We are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the established maintenance team at a modern biomass gasification power plant near Market Harborough. This is a hands-on engineering position supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a complex process facility. You will work across planned maintenance, reactive breakdowns, condition monitoring, plant outages and engineering improvement projects. The facility processes up to 72,000 tonnes of biomass annually and forms part of an established renewable energy and environmental engineering group.
The Role
- Complete planned preventative maintenance across mechanical and electrical plant
- Diagnose and repair faults on pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves and associated equipment
- Carry out routine plant inspections and condition-based monitoring
- Respond to breakdowns and restore plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Support the maintenance of control panels, instrumentation and basic electrical systems
- Assist with plant modifications, upgrades and improvement projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
- Support outage planning, scheduling and execution
- Help identify and maintain appropriate levels of engineering spares
- Work in accordance with site maintenance strategies and industry best practice
- Support compliance relating to pressure systems and lifting equipment inspections
- Follow all site safety procedures, SOPs and company policies
- Participate in a one-in-four call-out rota
This is a varied role combining day-to-day maintenance with longer-term plant reliability and improvement activity.
About You
We are looking for an experienced, mechanically biased engineer with a strong background in industrial maintenance. You should have:
- A recognised apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related discipline
- At least four years maintenance experience within a heavy industrial or process environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience maintaining pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves and rotating equipment
- The ability to complete both preventative and reactive maintenance
- Experience using a CMMS or computerised maintenance system
- A proactive approach to plant reliability and continuous improvement
- A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled engineering team
