As Senior Propulsion Test Engineer, you will be a highly motivated individual who enjoys being involved with the team through hands-on technical work. Required skills and experience:
- Previous experience within either Engine or Fuel testing
- Engineering Degree, preferably in a mechanical, electrical or automotive discipline desirable.
- Extensive industry relevant engineering experience also considered.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering propulsion system testing projects, in a client facing or product development environment.
- Strong expertise in dynamometers, sensors, data acquisition, and testing equipment.
About the opportunity:
The purpose of the Senior Propulsion Test Engineer role is to lead, manage, and support the execution of propulsion system testing using specialised equipment and methodologies. The role involves liaising with clients to interpret testing requirements, leading planning, execution, troubleshooting, and data analysis to deliver high-quality results, providing mentoring to less experienced team members. The role works closely with a team of technicians and support engineers to ensure seamless project delivery. The role contributes to maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and technical accuracy across test facilities.
Key activities:
- Conduct tests on propulsion systems using laboratory-based facilities.
- Lead the development of test plans for propulsion systems, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry requirements.
- Lead project setup activities, engaging all key stakeholders to standard Intertek process, ensuring holistic delivery of project setup from commercial handover to first test operation.
- Monitor and record test data, ensuring optimal data integrity, efficiency and that it meets quality and performance standards.
- Analyse test results, identifying trends, and making recommendations for system optimisation or improvements.
- Prepare comprehensive test reports, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including management and clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues through robust root cause analysis, introducing solutions to prevent reoccurrence across the wider team, facility and projects, providing technical support to other team members where necessary.
- Lead administrative tasks related to test scheduling, documentation, and data management to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Ownership of risk assessment and documentation of safe working environment in the test environment and supporting the actioning any risk items.
